flip lighter

This is a flip lighter simulator that runs in the browser, with nothing to download. It is the same two motions a real one has, opening and striking, and both work from the keyboard as well as the pointer, so it plays without a mouse.

The flame is not a looping picture. It is drawn live and behaves like one, wandering off vertical, thinning when it stretches, recovering when it settles. Watching it is most of the point.

Lighting again quickly keeps a streak alive, and the streak is where the reward is. Reaching five, ten and twenty in a row each sets off a beat that builds, and the Drops you have banked land when the run ends. Let too long pass between lights and the streak resets, which makes the rhythm the thing you are actually playing.

Drops are the playground’s own currency and spend in the studio on a Bead avatar, themes and sound kits. They are worth nothing outside dopa, on purpose.

Nothing here burns down, runs out of fuel or asks anything of you. It is a small, repeatable, entirely pointless motion, which is exactly what a fidget is for. If motion is reduced in your system settings the flame stays calm rather than dancing.
