(01)what we're about

every kind, in one place

dopamine had been scattered everywhere: a fidget on one site, a fake-shopping spree on another, a scratch card, a calming breath, an idle clicker, each living alone. dopa brings the whole field together: fidgets, oddly-satisfying toys, dopamine-site simulators, and idle clickers, every one held to the same standard. That's what we mean by the original: the genuine, all-in-one one.

built with care

Every toy is hand-crafted with real physics, premium motion and warm sound, no cheap assets, no stock art. It's meant to feel like a beautifully-made object, not a web page.

How much does it cost?

Most of dopa is free to play right in your browser. dopa+ is an optional subscription for extra toys and premium themes, and cloud sync comes with any account.

dopa is a playground of small browser toys, gathered in one place and built to one standard. It is made by Azalea Cyber Development in Calgary, Alberta, it plays free in a browser, and there is nothing to install.

more about dopa

The toys are built rather than assembled. The fluid in liquid is a real simulation running on your graphics card, squishy is a soft body that deforms around wherever you press it, and the sound is synthesized as it plays rather than fired off from a library of clips. Where a photograph is the right answer it gets used, which is why the storefront in splurge and the menus in drop eats are photographed while the deliveries that follow them are drawn.

Most of dopa is free, and playing has never needed an account. A few toys are members-only and everything else is open. dopa+ is the optional subscription that opens those, along with every premium theme, the sound kits that re-voice the whole playground, and a second discounted pick in the studio each day. An account costs nothing on its own, and what it buys you is progress that follows you to a second device.

Guest play stays on your device. Nothing needs an email address, progress is kept in the browser, and Drops are the playground’s own currency: they buy nothing outside dopa and cannot be bought with money. The ad slot is labelled as advertising, and there is only ever one of them on screen.

The name is short for dopamine simulator, which is also the domain. dopa is a trade name of Azalea Cyber Development, a general partnership in Alberta, Canada. The contact page has its business address and the addresses for support and privacy requests, and the terms set out the rest. It exists because the pieces of this were scattered across a dozen different sites, one fidget here and one scratch card there, with no real reason they had to stay apart.
