water cooler

Fill a cup. Take the break. See who else is on one.

Water Cooler is the water break, rebuilt as a place you can stand in. Press and hold the cold tap and the cup fills with real climbing water, a tone that rises with it, and air glugging back up the bottle. Let go right on the etched line for a clean pour, then drink it. Every cup takes one share out of the bottle, so the bottle empties as you reach the target you picked, and a fresh one thunks in.

The room is the other half. Anyone really on a water break at that moment stands beside you as their Bead, and the cups logged in the last quarter hour sit dimmed behind them. There are no names and no way to message anyone, so it stays a place rather than a feed. A bell rings on the hour and the half hour if you want company for it.

You log each cup yourself, so the count only holds what you tell it. Pick a target that suits you and change it whenever: how much water a person needs varies, and what you eat counts toward it too. This is not medical advice, and more is not better, so the cooler goes quiet and warm once you reach your number instead of pushing for another.

questions

Does the water cooler know when I drink?

No. You log each cup yourself by filling it and drinking it, so the count only ever holds what you told it.

How many cups should I aim for?

That is your call. Pick a target between 4 and 12 cups and change it whenever you like. How much water a person needs varies, and food counts toward it too. This is not medical advice.

Who are the other people at the cooler?

Players really on a water break at that moment, shown only as their Bead. No names, no messages, nothing to moderate. Cups logged in the last 15 minutes sit dimmed behind them.

What is a break bell?

A shared moment on the hour and the half hour, so everyone has the same time to stop for water. The room is livelier when it rings, and missing one costs you nothing.
